Position: Employment Coordinator Classification:Permanent, Full-Time Salary:$23.00-$26.00 Location:Williams Lake, BC Deadline:Until Filled The Tŝilhqot’in National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tŝilhqot'in Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake, British Columbia and serves six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tŝideldel, Yuneŝit'in, Tl'etinqox, Xeni Gwet'in, and Tl'esqox. TheEmployment Coordinatoris responsible for assisting Tŝilhqot’in members who are seeking employment. They are responsible for assessing clients’ interests, skills, abilities and work readiness. TheEmployment Coordinatorwill facilitate employment workshops providing guidance in resume building, cover letters, developing job search and interview skills. TheEmployment Coordinatoris an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient support service to the Tŝilhqot’in Nation. This position requires someone with a strong understanding of the workings of an office environment and the Tŝilhqot’in culture and values. Key Responsibilities * Organize regular job fairs, minimum once quarterly * Organize and conduct information sessions on resume writing, interview techniques (mock interview practice, basics of interview), job search skills * Set up and organize and conduct regular information session workshops in our six Tŝilhqot’in Communities * Provide one-on-one support to community members who wish to seek employment * Conduct career assessments and current skills assessments * Mentor clients to ensure they achieve self sufficiency * Assist community members in establishing an action plan to enhance their employability * Offer support in creating a “Back to Work” action plan * Liaise with the Cariboo Chilcotin Aboriginal Training Employment Centre (CCATEC) and other sources to secure training opportunities * Undertake research to assess for an individual’s barriers to employment * Monitor and remain aware of factors affecting employability * Provide employment opportunities to individuals and communities * Establish and maintain and market a casual job service to employees and employers * Follow up and offer support to clients have been successful in finding jobs * Provide information on the local labour market and update as required * Market and place Tŝilhqot’in clients within private industry * Update and maintain available employment opportunities on the TNG Facebook Employment Page as well as other platforms * Refer clients to community agencies if needed * Collect client data * Prepare and distribute regular reports * Provide and write reports on activity and statistical data * Administrative duties * Other duties as requiredRequirements * Must be a self-starter * Able to work independently or as a team * Committed to pursue regular professional development and training opportunities * Post-secondary training in the related field * Ability to speak fluent Tŝilhqot’in language will be considered an asset * Complete working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel * Strong presentation skills * Willing to travel to communities to deliver services * Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicleWorking Conditions * Travel will be required * Ability to work independently or as part of a team * Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware * Overtime as required * Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be requiredPlease send a cover letter, resume and 3 references to: Jenai Nolin Human Resources Generalist & Recruitment Tŝilhqot’in National Government 1729 South Lakeside Drive Williams Lake, BC V2G 3A9 Email: jenainolin@tsilhqotin.ca Preference will be given to those of Aboriginal Ancestry - per Section 16(1) of the Canadian Human Rights Act.
